How it works

The flow below is the intended shape. None of it is built yet, and the trust model in step 4 is an open decision.

1. An owner lists an item, its daily rate, and where to collect it.
2. A renter books it for a date range and pays through the platform.
3. The two meet to hand it over, photographing the item's condition as the dispute record.
4. On return, the condition is confirmed and the owner is paid out. What secures this step — deposit, escrow, identity verification, or some tier of all three — is not yet decided.

Open questions

Two things gate the real build: the trust and safety model for non-returned items, and Thailand's legal requirements for operating a marketplace that handles other people's money. Both are tracked in rental/CLAUDE.md.
